DESCRIPTION:Ribbon Cutting for:\n\n\n\nOld School "The Block" Community Outreach\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, October 17\, 2019\n\n\n\nLocated at\n\n118 MLK Dr.\n\nReidsville\, NC 27320\n\n\n\nRibbon will be cut at 12:00 PM\n\n \nThe Block is a historical past of Reidsville NC. The Block business community once consisted of a city within the city of Reidsville along Northwest and Northeast Market Streets. It was there that the thriving business district operated from the 1930's to the mid 80's. By November 1988 most of the buildings in this area had been demolished. N.E Market St was renamed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. While the buildings were gone the memories were re-birthed in July 2011 when the first Old School Block Community Cook Out was held.  Each year we come together to remember our past and embrace our future. A marker has been placed on The Block to remind us of the hard work and dedication it took to make sure that one day their children and every generation could look back and be proud of the fact that we are part of Reidsville's history.  \n\nThe last standing building\, known as the Towns Building\, was recently purchased by Pelham Transportation and torn to expand their current business located On Morehead St .
