DESCRIPTION:Wright Tavern to be Open for Holiday Tours Saturday\, Dec. 3\n\n\n\n \nWentworth\, NC - The MARC's annual Christmas at Wright Tavern will be held on Saturday\, December 3rd from 1 to 3 p.m. In Celebration of the Tavern's 200th Birthday\, this year's decorating theme is an 1816 Christmas.\n\nDocents will be available to guide guests through the Tavern rooms and grounds. The event will feature the Carolina Colonial Dancers\, who will demonstrate English Country Dance and wear period attire. One dance to be performed\, entitled Rural Felicity\, was written in 1816. The dancers will perform at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served throughout the event.\n\nAdmission to the Tavern and the Museum will be free on Dec. 3.\n\nLocated on N.C. Highway 65 in Wentworth\, the Wright Tavern is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Tavern is a Rockingham County landmark that has successfully been restored to its 19th century condition.\n\n200 years old in 2016\, Wright Tavern is undergoing another round of restoration generously funded by a matching grant from the Marion Stedman Covington Foundation\, a gift from the William Bethell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution\, and contributions from community members. Docents will also be available to discuss the progress of the restoration and the future of the Tavern's southeast rooms\, which were previously occupied by the Wentworth Post Office. This restoration project will ensure the Tavern remains open for present and future generations.\n\nRegular hours for the Tavern are 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday\, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $5 for adults\, $3.50 for students and senior citizens\, and children under 4 are free.
