Hayride tours of the adjoining N.C.S.U. Upper Piedmont Research Station will be offered beginning at 11:00 a.m. Just for fun, kids can get their faces painted. The pony carousel will be ready for lots of children to ride and a photo opportunity will be available as well. You may also see the peacocks wandering the property and the baby peacocks at their caged nest area.
Along with live and energetic music in the courtyard, you can relax with a glass of Chinqua Penn wine, you can picnic on the clock tower hill and shop with all the local crafters for beautiful hand-made jewelry, soaps, lotions, bird houses, furniture, framed photographs and artwork, and much, much more. The
Brunswick Stew will be prepared on site and sold by the Disabled American Veterans with all proceeds benefiting their organization. Stew can be purchased by the bowl or by the quart. There will be a variety of other food items available as well.
The Rockingham County Farmer’s Market will operate on the grounds of Chinqua Penn Plantation on this date offering many fall specialty items for the last open market of the season. So, as Jeff Penn once said, “Come, and you may find some meditation for the mind, some solace for the soul, some harmony for the heart. Anyhow, come!” And, we say, “Come join us at Chinqua Penn
Chinqua Penn ‘grounds only’ admission is $5 per person and children 12 and under accompanied by an adult get in free.
