Compassionate Café
Ancora’s Compassionate Café is an open, welcoming community event designed to create space for learning, conversation, and connection around serious illness, hospice care, and mental health support. Over coffee and conversation, attendees will hear from Ancora’s experienced staff as they provide approachable, high-level overviews of our Serious Illness Care services, hospice care, and counseling center—helping demystify what support looks like at different stages of life and health.
The event will also feature Dr. Ed Hawkins, a retired local physician and former Medical Director for Hospice of Rockingham County, who will share insights drawn from decades of compassionate care and community service.
Whether you are navigating a serious illness, supporting a loved one, working in healthcare, or simply wanting to better understand available resources, Ancora’s Compassionate Café offers a relaxed, informative setting to ask questions, gain clarity, and connect with experts who care deeply about our community.
The Compassionate Café is free but we do ask that attendees bring a nonperishable food item (Ramen noodles, instant coffee/tea, instant oatmeal, mashed potato packs, canned food with pop tops).
