Tobacco: the Backbone of Rockingham County Economy

Bob Carter, the curator of the MARC exhibit, grew up on a tobacco farm and continued to grow tobacco as an adult here in Rockingham County. This program discusses the process, the harvest, and the sale of “bright leaf” tobacco, and the impact of changes in the industry to the people who made a living working in tobacco. This program includes a tour of the exhibit.
