“Reside in Reidsville” showcases what City offers new residents First quarterly program set for July 12 at beautiful Lake Reidsville Are you new to the City of Reidsville? Still trying to find out what kinds of services the Reidsville community provides? Then you need to check out the “Reside in Reidsville” program that will kick off at Lake Reidsville, 630 Water Works Road, on Thursday, July 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. It is the first of four quarterly events planned for the rest of 2018 and into 2019. These sessions are also designed to help new residents connect to the local community, meet others who live and work here and show you ways you can make a difference in Reidsville. “Reside in Reidsville” targets those new residents who have only been living here for about a year or less. The program, which will feature a hot dog meal and fun for the family, seeks to enlighten those attending about what the City has to offer and turn these new residents into “Community Champions” on “Team Reidsville”! Information stations outlining both City and community services will be set up where new residents can talk to staff and community liaisons about different programs and services. While the stations will showcase a mix of offerings, this quarterly meeting will focus on recreation, health and wellness. City staff will be on hand to discuss everything from police and fire services to trash pickup to information on events at downtown’s Market Square. Representatives from Cone Health/Annie Penn Hospital, the Reidsville YMCA, Rockingham Community College and the Rockingham County Schools system, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, are among those who have committed to coming out and sharing what is going on at their facilities. The Reidsville Chamber of Commerce, which operates the City’s Visitor Center, will share information about its member businesses that provide services to the local community. With the focus on recreation and fitness, members of the Reidsville Parks & Recreation Department will be talking about athletic programs for the young to services for our seniors available at RCARE (Reidsville Center for Active Retirement Enterprises). The City of Reidsville is proud to have a great network of neighborhood parks throughout the City as well as walking trails. We’d like to tell you more about them! And by having the kickoff “Reside in Reidsville” event at Lake Reidsville, those attending the program will have access to several activities while they are there. Attendees can take advantage of the pedal boats, kayaks, canoes and corcls at no charge during the event. Also available will be horseshoes, corn hole and the camp’s playground. Bring a fishing pole and enjoy fishing. The soccer field will be open for an impromptu game of soccer and of course, the lake’s walking and biking trails will be open, as will the disc golf course, Lake’s Edge. But you have to sign up!
